We are a 501-(c)3 non-profit agency that helps to place horses, formerly associated with the PRE MAR RIN (pregnant mare urine) industry, into adoptive homes. We extend our services beyond our small town of 6,000 people and find our horses homes throughout the USA. There are registered Quarter Horses, registered Paints, Buckskins (many of them draft crosses), Thoroughbred, Shire and Percheron crosses, full Shires and Percherons, as well as exposed Mares, Geldings, a few Stallions and many foals. We even have access to ponies and mini babies for adoption.
The times are changing. With the failing economy, our horses are in terrible danger. Many owners are unable to afford their horses, letting them loose, or letting them starve. We are enlarging our focus to help these horses. We will still work with several PMU ranches, continuing to help decrease the size of their herds. We will be moving our physical location to Tijeras, NM. Our office of operations will continue to be in Silver City, NM.
Tijeras, New Mexico
Tucked into the hillside of Tijeras just off of 217 south just off I-40, our new facility means the rebirth of our dream and the continuation of our mission to rescue the horses. With five acres available to us, and ten acres completely fenced, we believe this to be horse heaven.
We have six 10x20 pens with safety panels and individual feed and water buckets for horses. A nicely lanscaped 60ft round pen and an 80x160 arena. There is a 14x24 in and out shed, cross fencing for the upper 2½ acres. With plenty of trees for windbreak and shade during the seasons, the only thing missing is a real barn!
We are planning a fundraiser for money to build a nice barn with at least 12 stalls, and the potential for 24 stalls. We have the room! It will be a piece of paradise where these horses will recover. We will be offering boarding services next year, as well. Another plus for this new site is the public land just down the street with tons of riding trails a nice, quiet way to spend an afternoon. There is plenty of parking and easy access from a paved road a great asset during the winter months. We feel blessed to have this available to us.
We are seeking donations to further equip our new facility. Fence feeders, lumber, gravel, sand, tractor work, (or a tractor), hay, feed and anything else you can think of. Every little bit helps. Monetary donations can be done on our donation page. We hope to be in operation by early January. thank you so much for not turning a blind eye.
Please contact us for training fees and a quote on shipping. The officers of Serenity Acres provide the transport as part of our adoption screening process. It gives us a chance to meet the adoptive owners and see their facility. Most importantly, we make sure our horses arrive safely.
As a non-profit, all fees collected go to transportation expenses and rescue operations.
